POTTSTOWN BOROUGH GOVERNMENT

Pottstown Borough government, including the Pottstown Water and Sewer Authority, has nearly 200 employees and a 2009 budget of $35 million.

The descriptions of its various departments, the services they provide, and the people they employ, are described on the Borough’s official website.  However, the descriptions are brief and inconsistent.

Among Borough departments are:

Police
Fire
Public Works
Codes and Zoning
Parks & Recreation

The Borough and its contractors also operate municipal parking lots, a small airport, a Cable TV operation, curbside trash collection, and a small bus system.  The Borough has an economic development director.

A comprehensive reorganization of the Borough’s website to explain these functions should be a top priority in 2009.
