Borough Personnel

The greatest expense in any municipal budget is personnel.

Pottstown Citizens for Responsible Government received a list of borough employees with their wages for 2009 under Pennsylvania's Right to Know Act. We sorted the list by department and job title. For a list of employees, department, job classification, and 2010 wages, click here.

Because police officers must deal with some unsavory characters, we thought it best to use initials instead of full names.

As we showed in the Best Practices section of this Web site, a good budget should include a complete list of all government employees.  The City of Erie publishes a Personnel Roster on its website.  We believe Pottstown should include a complete personnel roster in its budget.

As we noted elsewhere on this web site:

These are your records. If you were told that you could not see a copy of your own check ledger or employment contract, you would be rightfully upset.  The government’s records are no different, because they are maintained for you at your expense.  More important, they provide you the ability to be informed and to monitor the actions and spending of your government – a fundamental principle of our democracy and this commonwealth.
